"Don Quixote" returns to the stage of the Bolshoi Theater

12 Martha, Minsk / Corr.. Belta/. On the eve of International Theater Day24 and25 March at the Bolshoi will premiere the ballet by L. Minkus“Don Quixote”, informs BelTA.

Ballet L. Minkus“Don Quixote” returns to the Belarusian stage in new scenery and new costumes.

The ballet went through six editions at the Bolshoi Theater. It was first staged in 1941, then– in 1947, 1952-m, 1962-m, 1979-m and 1989. The latter was until recently. Viewers are waiting for the seventh edition, on which people's artist of the USSR and Belarus are working, artistic director of the theater Valentin Elizariev(choreographer, choreographer, libretto co-author), Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Kolyadko(conductor), as well as People's Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Okunev and lighting designer Nina Ivankina. As they said in the theater, choreography by M. Petipa intertwined in the updated ballet production, A. Gorsky, K. Goleizovsky, V. Elizarieva.

Over the years, such legendary artists have shone in this ballet, as Semyon Drechin, Tamara Karavaeva, Alexandra Nikolaeva, Valery Mironov and others. This time the main roles will be played by Lyudmila Khitrova, Irina Eromkina, Victoria Trenkina, Alina Rudenko, Konstantin Geronik, Dmitry Uksusnikov, Konstantin Belokhvostyk, Alexander Misiyuk and others.

The performance, based on one of the plots of the novel by M. Cervantes“The cunning hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha”, lives over150 years». About the wedding of the rich Gamache and the beautiful Kitri, who is in love with Basil, tell in an incendiary and passionate Spanish dance. Because of“hot” manners staging is called the most joyful– story and choreography– throughout the heritage of the classical repertoire. Besides, “Don Quixote” in the theater world is one of the most popular classical ballets.

Minsk residents and guests of the capital will be able to see temperamental Spanish dances and a beautiful story of two lovers24 and25 March at the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre.-0-
