5 Martha, Minsk / Corr.. Belta/. Temporary exhibition“Tolstoy and Belarus” operates in the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, told BelTA at the museum.

This exposure– joint project of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature and the State Museum of L.N.. Tolstoy in Moscow. The exhibition is dedicated to the connection of the famous writer, 195-anniversary of which is celebrated in2023 year, with our country, as well as the influence of his work on Belarusian writers of the twentieth century.

In the pages of a novel“War and Peace”, on which the author worked for seven years, a lot is told about Belarusian cities and villages, where Tolstoy's heroes fought. The exhibition presents illustrations for the famous novel, historical engravings and reproductions, which depict the battles described in the work, held on the territory of modern Belarus(crossing the Neman, battle near Saltanovka, battle on the Berezina). You can also look at draft manuscripts of the novel.

Influence of Leo Tolstoy, his psychological observations of human behavior in war can be traced in the work of Maxim Goretsky, Ivan Melezh, Yankee Glasses, Vasil Bykov and other Belarusian writers.

At the exhibition you can get acquainted with the materials, telling about the military experience of Leo Tolstoy himself.

One of the sections of the exposition presents translations of books by Leo Tolstoy into Belarusian from the funds of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature. Among them– “Sevastopol stories” for children, novel“Resurrection” and stories“Hadji-Murat”, “Prisoner of the Caucasus”.

The exhibition contains interesting unpublished archival materials, presented by the State Museum of L.N.. Tolstoy, materials from the collections of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, State Museum of the History of Theater and Musical Culture.

The exposition will be of interest to scientists, researchers, museum staff, teachers and students of philological faculties, and also to all, who is interested in the history of literature. She will act on26 May at: Minsk, M. Bogdanovich street, 13.-0-
